This movie has always stuck with me. Saw it when I was around 20 and now I'm 57 and it still crosses my mind. Weird how some movies strike a cord.

I saw this movie recently. I think if you are older, beyond middle age, this movie may depress you, if you watch while you are still in your prime (20's to 30's and even 40's), this movie will prepare you. It can either make you reflect on seemingly insignificant mistakes and choices you made in your life or make you aware of moments in life to be wary of.

I watched it the other day on TCM & was amazed by how good of shape Burt Lancaster was in. He's one of the underrated actors of all time. In an era of movie stars his acting stood out & he took on several different types of roles. The movie is good not great.

This is an interesting film. The concept sounds pretty silly but the story kind of unfolds in a way that makes it hard to turn off. I think the film is indicative of a specific time in filmmaking while capturing a moment of American History when the country was a bit lost socially. Filmmakers were experimenting with film and storytelling. Some of it good, a lot of it bad. American families began to fracture and fall apart and this film is a glimpse of all that. Burt plays the role interestingly enough. I recommend it just to see what the middle-class was kind of like in the late 60s.

The more I watch this film, the more I am beginning to think that probably from the very first scene, the character played by Burt Lancaster is already dead. The whole movie is sort of a departure from the land of the living reminesce.

A remarkable movie. Too bad it was used as the blueprint for the retirement of a large segment of the American people. This is what has happened.
