Supercharged J Series Drag Civic Comes to Life
By Aaron Gaghagen and Brian Gillespie

People are always asking how fast our projects are. A lot of the time we don't know exactly. We benchmark most of our projects in 1/8th mile runs, but that doesn't give 1/8th mile times the same way that a visit to the track does. So, let's change that! (At least for one project.) We are building a Civic to hit the drag strip. This time we're going with a boosted J swap.

Nothing but Hondas. That’s exactly what you’ll find at VTEC Academy. Because Soichiro Honda’s passion for motorsports and his company’s ability to express that in the machines they produce make a whole lot of sense. VTEC Academy is a place for Honda fans who feel the same way and who seek the most accurate technical information and commentary to continue that very legacy and make whatever Honda it is that they drive just a little bit better. That crash was insane. To be alive from something like that is truly remarkable

*_These J swapped hot hatches are such unique builds… It's awesome to see these swaps getting more common these past years 🔥_*

I still own my 99 Accord V6 Coupe and remember dreaming of installing a CT Supercharger on it back in the day! If memory serves they were $4600 and that was just for the kit. To then install and tune it was another $1500 on top of that! I was way to poor at the time so that dream died. But I still have her... 278k miles on the odom. I'd love to rip her apart and completely refresh. And with her being 20 years old I don't have to worry about emissions to pass inspection. Skies the limit!

Awesome little build sir. Thank you for sharing! Trying to learn as much as I can.

Hands down one of the gnarliest Honda engine swaps I've ever seen. It's so obnoxious and I love it. I'm sure it will be wild to drive down the strip. That is if you can see the tree. Lol

I can’t believe the insight crash was already 10 years ago.
My coworker wants to supercharge his Ridgeline and this is going to really motivate him since he’s looking at the CT kit as well.

Pretty damn wild! So nice to see Brian still doing it…. And doing it well. I used to sell to them a bit here and there way up from Vegas (Acura) back in the day. Mainly linkages since those were hard to source. Brian had me test on of his solid rear mounts on my EM SI coupe and it was amazing. Good people to work with.

This is so awesome! I absolutely love the j series honda motor so much that I actually make custom harnesses and axles for these swaps into 90s hondas. Love seeing them get popular, hasport mounts are king for the swap as well!!

The grin on Brian's face when he "HA HA" while the car was idling, I do the same when a new project of mine turns on again 😂

Wow after you mentioned your crash I had to go see it. Glad you are doing great. Just got my EGK5 Mounts last week love em other than having to modify the passenger side mount since there was no room to tighten the bolt without grinding down part of the mount

The throttle body will be your biggest/cheapest power adder on this setup. Too small a TB really hurts power on these blowers, so a big radiased wntry is tour friend. Can't wait to see it!

Very interesting, I owned a TL in 08 and always thought it would be a beast with some boost!

Probably looking at somewhere around 397hp before swapping the pulley. Just a guess though.

1:50 "after I crashed my insight 10 years ago." Proceeds to show me the most gnarly crash I've seen in months.
