On June 13th, the 8th edition of the Lamp Awards 2019 ceremony, which unveiled the winners amongst 502 projects, was held at the Barcelona Nautic Center, in the Port of Barcelona city.

The event, lead by Mr. Ignasi Cusidó, Lamp CEO, and hosted by TV journalist Bibiana Ballbè, was closed by the prestigious lighting designer and president of the jury, Roger Narboni (France), supported by the rest of the judges: lighting designers Uno Lai (Taiwan), Paul Nulty (United Kingdom) and Pascal Chautard (Chile), lighting artist Aleksandra Stratimirovic (Sweden), architects Hilde Léon (Germany) and Antonio Ruiz Barbarin (Spain), and the interior designer Mercedes Isasa (Spain). Furthermore, the event counted on the collaboration of The Light Squad Studio, who surprised us with their lighting installation recreating the sea mist.

The gala was attended by 500 professionals of the lighting sector worldwide, who didn't want to miss the prize-giving event of these awards which are already amongst the most important ones in the international lighting calendar. The attendees toasted “Yo Ho A Pirates Life For Me” in a current dry dock for repair and maintenance of motor and sailing boats, which was transformed into a pirate lair for one night. It was a really enjoyable pirate event in which the attendees could taste the typical Catalan fisherman’s ron cremat, seafood, sushi, paella, etc., or do networking in the calm chill outs or drink a gin tonic whilst dancing to live music with the musicians of the Piano Bar, and also take photos in a “pirate photocall” on a pirate boat, the Jolly Rogers. In addition, as if they were pirates, the band Always Drinking Marching Band boarded the party and transmitted their energy and good vibes to the audience, who also played in a giant table football.

The present edition, the 8th since the contest started on 2008, beats the record of 61% of lighting designers' participation and mantain the 75% internationalization. A total of 502 projects from 42 countries prove the international consolidation of the Lamp Awards, which have been endowed with a total of € 10,000 distributed into four categories.
