Today, we are going to discuss the S-550, a newest air defence system which has been introduced recently by the Russian government. Let’s see what this new system entails! Stay tuned and don’t go anywhere.
On November 9, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoygu cited the statement of President Vladimir Putin about the necessity to “deliver the air defence systems S-350, S-500 and S-550 to the Russian troops”. It implies that Russia has successfully developed an undeniably unknown weapon and is about to deploy it. This announcement took the public by surprise, yet the military circles have not unveiled any details about this new machinery nor have they agreed on giving any relevant commentaries.
Also goes by the name 55R6M "Triumfator-M", S550 is a Russian surface-to-air missile/anti-ballistic missile system created to replace the A-135 missile system presently in service, and to also provide support for the S-400. The S-500 was developed by the Almaz-Antey Air Defence Concern. It is first delivered in 2021, though already planned to be in production by 2014. According to the Pravda report, due to its characteristics, S-550 is unrivalled by any other similar system in the world, being the top of its classes of space-defence weapons. Still citing the same report, it is known that the weapon shares similarity with the US Terminal High Altitude Area Defence (THAAD) system in that it will be synthesized into a single network of assets of defence in aerospace.

My country India has been offered the S500 and the S550. If we get sanctioned by the US under CAATSA for our previous purchase of the S400, will go for the purchase of the S500 and S550 systems.

I love your channel and I hope you don’t take this offensively, but you really could use an editor. I mean this in a nice way, and I think it would really help your channel get to the next level. But on pretty much every video the script or the title is just off. Take this video for example. You have 2 spaces before “is” and the title is written “What is actually the __.” It should be: “what actually is the __.”
Again I don’t mean this in a negative way. I think having someone proof read your script or edit your videos professionally would make a big difference and help the channel grow!

I know this was posted 1 year ago when there was not much info about the same, however let's improve the facts a bit..S-500 is simply a improved version of S-400 with much bigger range and tracking and all sorts of other capabilities but against all sorts of aerial targets, S-550 is a Satellite killer which means his main purpose is to hit Space vehicles and not a air targets so it is not a SAM system basically, it is a land based Space defense system , before S-550 was introduced there was only aircraft launched missiles (and launched at a very high altitude) for the same purpose
