The tragedy of most good people is that they lack the ability to be present and quick when attacked. Others always take advantage of this weakness and unfairly win short and decisive battles that wound the heart. A person with a peaceful disposition and a clear conscience cannot think of a suitable answer at that time, and this answer often comes to mind only when time has passed and the game is out of hand. This is not ignorance, but the innocence of nature that is too pure.
