Michigan Central Station to reopen June 6,2024.

Ford has been renovating the historic Michigan Central Station site and is transforming the abandoned train station into a mobility hub. Recently Ford been testing drone delivery there, they opened the world’s first public wireless EV charging section of road, celebrated a Detroit Lions playoff win, and revealed plans to build a hotel.

Michigan Central Station is a historic building located in Detroit, Michigan. Built in the Beaux-Arts architectural style, it served as the main intercity passenger rail depot for Detroit from its completion in 1913 until it ceased operation in 1988. The station was designed by the architects Warren & Wetmore and Reed and Stem, who also designed New York City's Grand Central Terminal.

I drove up from Ohio for Fords open house, plan to be there when it opens. Piece of art and in the meantime watch Michaels video's for updates. 👍Every time I would visit we always went by the station wondering what the fate would be and then Ford came along.

AMTRAK & Canadian Rail are puting in the infrastructure, as they rebuild the mainline tracks, for high speed rail from Chicago to Montreal via Jackson, Ann Arbor, Detroit, Windsor, London and Toronto. The rail tunnel between Detroit & Windsor is just a mile down the tracks from Michigan Central Station, though a new tunnel will have to eventually be built. AMTRAK & FoMoCo have held very preliminary discussions about restoring some form of rail transportation to the station but beyond that nothing disclosed. There's still freight rail going through the tunnel, with the tracks visable in this video at the edge of construction

Crossing via The Ambassador Bridge 14 years ago I viewed this abandoned building while paying my $5 American toll. I was dumbfounded that it was being left alone. My faith in the promise of America is being restored as I view the updates from new Detroit.

I caught a train there to Chicago in 1977 or so .
I grew up around Detroit .
What music is this really good and nostalgic. Sounds like the seventies.

7:44 – I took a photo from that ledge back in 2010 when the station had been abandoned for 20 years. I spent the next 30 minutes sitting out there enjoying the breeze and view in total peace. One of my favourite memories. Long live MCS!

Massive developments in Detroit and nobody knows about them ! Even people in the suburbs don’t knows about them ! In a few years people will wake up and say, “where did all of this come from !” 😂 lol

This is great to see to bad Tiger Stadium didnt get the same treatment if was supposed to but then ppl got in the way i got a chunk of right field concrete had to crawl under a fence to get it i used to always look at Mi Cent from Tiger and was amazed at how cool it looked to much of our history is erased to memory's
