Men in Nursing at LSBU - International Men's Day
Показать описание
LSBU's Institute of Health & Social Care are proud to launch the 'LSBU Men in Nursing Forum' to coincide with International Men’s Day 2021.
Within the UK, there is a shortfall of 40,000 nurses across the NHS, promoting nursing careers and encouraging a more diverse workforce could help address this shortfall. The purpose of this event is to recognise men’s contribution to nursing at LSBU and within our local NHS. Currently men make up under 12% of the Registered Nursing workforce, we will look at why men choose nursing careers as well as acknowledging some of the challenges and stigma men may face.
The personal journeys of prominent men in nursing are presented as well as exploring the research and data on an international, national, and local level. The importance of positive attitudes and strong role models to support men to access nursing careers was also discussed.
This year’s theme for International Men’s Day 2021 centres around better relations between men & women and improving gender relations. This event considers the importance of working together to ensure that that careers in nursing are open to everyone and encourage a more diverse nursing workforce.
