Doug you should have emphasized the power tools must always be moving AWAY from the edge of the tool. It's hard to see on video and in fact many times in a video the rotation will appear to be running in the opposite direction.
Best wishes for the holidays and keep them coming

Doug, you really should have been a teacher. You explain things so perfectly, and in such a humble way.

As a child I would go out to my Grandad's workshop in the barn and watch him sharpening his tools. I found it absolutely mesmerizing! A lovely memory. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your lovely bride and your family and friends and any livestock what happened to be wandering around in the house or yard! Stay healthy everybody!

Another valuable, instructional, video from a wonderful, humble gentleman. My late husband taught woodworking; he would have loved your videos. Have a blessed Christmas. Greetings from California.🎄

Great how-to for those that didn’t grow up around this type of stuff! Tool maintenance is half the fun for me. Awesome stuff Doug!

I thought for a second that you were shredding some bills. Very informative video. I have had issues sharpening my carving tools. I will try what you have shown. Thanks again Doug. Stay safe.

Doug, I have struggled for decades getting my tools sharp. I have used a variety of stones, jigs, sand paper, never quite happy with the results. Even ruined the profile of my Gerber EZ Out. Wasn't untill I viewed your 'Make a strop, use a strop' video that I started to get really good results. My wife knows to be carefull handling my knives now (of course she grabs one of mine first for the kitchen)! Great info!

Thanks for showing your sharpening techniques. They have the same polisher. I polish the blades on hard felt wheels with a shank on a drill covered with green paste.
I've been watching your channel for a long time.

Found you from recommendations on a Facebook Whittling page. Over and over, beginners like me ask for good instruction, and your name is always one of the first mentioned, Doug.
Thank you for being such a great teacher; that is a gift.
And thank you for your constant reminders and reassurances, like in the beginning of this video, that one doesn't "need" lots of complicated, expensive equipment. But it sure can be fun! Lol

Thanks Doug for the video. I wish you had done it a few years ago. I spend so much time and $$ finding the easiest and fasted method to keep my tools sharp, and after years of research and expenses, I ended-up with the EXACT same setup you have here. As a bonus, I can also sharpen all my woodworking tools with it, and even the kitchen knifes! :-) Great video and advice.
