If you notice in this video all of the contacts in that group shown are only IPhone users (u can see the FaceTime camera symbols on all the iPhone contacts) so of course you’ll be able to add or remove them from your group. The problem is when an Android user is added to the group u can’t add or remove any of the contacts for any device (also no FaceTime camera symbols will be shown for Android users just the message or phone symbols).

that didn't work for me, but I created a new message, clicked on the group & then was able to add another person to the group (Android & Iphone users)

It didn’t help, I feel the same way the other comments shared that this didn’t resolve the situation at all but made made me have to make correct new changes

Easier fix! When you try to add a contact to group message each contact has to be a iOS user. If anyone uses android you will not see the option to add contact. Test it out with people that you know are iOS users vs ppl that you know are Android users.

I can't add a friend to a text thread because there are a couple of Android users on the thread. Yet one more reason I regret switching from Android to an iPhone.
