I took the plunge, forked over the cash for Christmas 2020 & bought the Tom Brown Tracker #1 from TOPS. I use it for everything & more every day. it's a BEAST that continues to exceed all my expectations. Just want to say for most tasks, chores, bushcrafting, etc you can't go wrong with the Morakniv Companion. I bought mine in carbon steel for $15 five years ago & it has never faltered. $15!!!

Those knives are pretty cool, but in the 35 years I've been camping I've never had to use a knife to split wood. Not once have I ever walked into the woods and not found dead branches that I couldn't break up and use for kindling. For Bigger branches I use a saw and never had to split them cuz the were dead and caught fire easily. I guess if it's something you like to do it's fine, but a small camp axe works great too.

You just can't go wrong with a Mora. The price has no reflection on their quality. I have TOPS, Esee, Kbar, etc. but that MSK-1 is at the top of my want

The KaBar BK2 is definitely my choice for the best survival knife. It's a sturdy tool that can tackle the most demanding jobs.

As someone who has been camping and fishing for almost five decades, I can say that I have never carried just one knife in my pack. If I believe that I will be splitting wood, I will carry an axe, saw and large knife like a Schrade SCHF9, or Buck 119 along with a more handy belt knife like a Gerber Prodigy or Schrade SCHF14. In my pocket, I will carry a Victorinox like the Trekker, or Officer. If fires are prohibited, then I will carry a smaller combination like the Prodigy, a Mora Companion and a Victorinox. The Prodigy could probably stay home, but, unfortunately, there are too many 2-legged predators in the world, some of whom have discovered alcohol. Usually, the sight of a serious belt knife will instill politeness without having to unsheath it. Circumstances determine what knives to carry, but generally, a 5 inch fixed blade and a pocket knife will suffice.

BIG QUESTION??? ...IM VERY CONFUSED...the thumbnail shows the TOPS SXB...BUT...the SXB doesn't make an appearance 🤔 Why is this??? Especially since the SXB would cut all the knives listed in half and has been tested and bested most knives shown here as Best Survival Knife...seems like a skewed review that's focus was to promote the MSK-1 which is a decent knife I like by my friends at Survival Tips...just confusing 😕.

I think the Esse 5 has most knives beat in overall hard use testing. You forgot to compare the Esse5 to the Becker 2 which it is tougher than in destruction testing overall.

I've had the BK2 for some time and it is everything said above. I would add, however, I disliked the blade coating and quickly removed it along with carefully grinding the blade back to squared edges so it could flint strike for starting a fire. I don't know that I've ever seen this mentioned but it's something I would suggest to anyone interested in its purchase.

The ESEE laser strike has never failed me, I’ve put mine through hell. I even lost it in a pond at a popular campground and thought it was gone, 2 months later a foreman at my work to his camper to the same site and his daughter found it on the bank of the pond, all I had to do was sand the rust off the handle screws and the edge and sharpen it and it was right back to top tier. Also the micarta handle scales are excellent for gripping in any weather and can be cleaned with water soap and a sponge to look brand new. If you attach a lanyard to the knife you can grip even further back on the handle to make it a even better chopper. I have loved knifes all my life and used them for every application. But if I was told we’re dropping you in the middle of nowhere and your life is at stake I’m grabbing my laser strike
