In this reel, we kick back to the smooth sounds of some pretty unlikely *instruments*. We begin with a junkyard virtuoso, proving that one man’s trash truly is another’s orchestra. Then we travel deep underground to witness the world’s largest instruments before we groove along to the seriously spine-chilling tunes of ‘The Apprehension Engine.’

This story is a part of our Human Condition series. Come along and let us connect you to some of the most peculiar, stirring, extraordinary, and distinctive people in the world.

I've heard the cave organ in person! The Caverns are only about 2.5 hours from where I live. It's incredible.

the Stalagpipe organ is one of my favorite instruments in the world. It's a beautiful thing and even during the small bit they show in tours is haunting and stays with you forever. If you ever get the chance go to Luray Caverns, it's not as expansive or natural as Mammoth caves in Kentucky but it's still most definitely worth it.

I love the sounds that come from tapping large cardboard pipes onto the floor. I even thought of making a didgeridoo out of it! Music can be created with anything. :)

I've been to the Luray Caverns and I've heard the organ even though it wasn't played manually. It sounds incredible and there's nothing really like it that I can think of. It's amazing down there.
