Okay Mai isn't a Simp. It was made clear that she holds Zuko to a certain standard and has never been afraid of Azula.

Both Boredom and seeing Zuko is why she joined Azula's crew. She has stated openly that Azula can shoot as much lightning she wants at her over wall sludge. This proves fear doesn't motivate Mai.
Also, both the Beach episode and the Boiling Rock shows her displaying strong boundaries. Zuko and Mai gain understanding of each other. She even dumps him in the comics.

I would love to point out that she also freed Ty Lee. People seems to compare both of em and Ty Lee's always winning, but this just show that even if Ty Lee is better in anyway, it takes Mai, and Mai only that pulled out the strings from her of Azula.

I think if Mai wouldn't betray Azula, Zuko and Sokka would survive and get inprisoned. In such situation the rest of team avatar would try to find and rescue them or Azula would know where avatar is hiding . It's actually hard to predict what would happen, and what consequences that would give us .

Well given that the avatar state popped in the fight with ozai regardless of the energy bending shenanigans all not having that means is that he’d be forced to kill ozai instead of just take his bending away like he intended to do. Everything else ig is correct tho.
