Floyd Mayweather Visits Wounded Israeli Soldiers: A Message of Strength and Solidarity

Kirya Ono, October 28, 2024* – Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather made an impactful visit to Israel, marking his fourth trip to the country since the onset of the Iron Swords War. Mayweather visited Belev Echad’s rehabilitation center in Kiryat Ono to meet and support Israeli soldiers who were wounded during the recent conflict. The center, run by Belev Echad, provides essential rehabilitation and emotional support to soldiers recovering from serious injuries.

Moti Fried, who accompanied Mayweather on his visit, remarked on the dedication of the boxing icon: "It's simply unbelievable that he drops everything and comes here for the fourth time. He’s a legend in his field, and his love for Israel and the Jewish people is something truly exceptional."

Love this dude, a man who can well afford marching to his own drum. Back a few years ago, as I headed to the local bikeshop on Ninth Avenue, I spotted a limo double parked out front and a few well-dressed, large, black, fellows in sunglasses milling about. As I passed them to head in, I walked into a noticeably, restrained-high energy atmosphere which quickly swallowed me up into this narrow, Hells Kitchen space filled with bicycles and bicycle repair men, and Floyd Mayweather, who I barely recognized, but I knew he hada' be a big time somebody. Just as he was leaving, as he passed me, for some reason I threw a quick leftjab at his right side collar bone, which he dodged and popped me one hard, right in the gizzard. Then, I figured it out. It was world boxing champion, undefeated, Floyd Mayweather. Love this dude.
