Don’t worry about hard or soft water. Discus do fine in light. The warm water of at least 84F is true though

In my experience, farm breed discus can live in water with ph of 8 and bright lighting doesn't bother them, most likely a myth from overly protective owners stressing out little things. Most tropical plants can handle discus temperature water, so yeah, i don't think discus are that bad

Unless you have plants that thrive in high temps (amazon swords) and Discus that thrive in hard water (Stendker German bred Discus)

The Amazon sword also give cover from the light 😤
