I have a vague memory of one-eye cheering up one of the girls after their injury (I’m pretty sure it was bright, but might have been cinder) saying that they are always welcome in the elders den and that she would keep them company

I wish instead of cloudtail, brightheart's biggest supporter was one-eye. Cloudtail would always care and check on her every day, but one-eye would sleep next to and comfort brightheart AND cinderpelt. She'd also tell them stories of halftail, her mate and their kids mousefur and runningwind. She would have known about cinderpelt's crush on firestar and let brightheart know how cloudtail felt about her. Both sisters would be devastated when she passed and brightheart would tell whitewing, dewnose, ambermoon, and snowbush all about her. Brightheart would go on to show the same care for longtail when he got injured, jayfeather, briarlight, berrynose after he lost his tail, share stories about her mate with finleap, and talk to any other disabled cat (snowbird and her limp, whiskernose (has to have some disability since he retired early), pouncefoot or tail (also retired way early), whitewater, wildfur, deadfoot (til he died), and any others. Also wish her mentor, father, mother, and brothers were more present.
