Okay as a latina what’s going on here is simple.. Latinos make a big deal about the differences between Mexico, Central America, South America and the Caribbean Spanish speaking countries. Knowing what country someone is from gives you some insight into how they might be, specially if they were born there. lol .. also them guessing what country each other was from, with initial distrust is something that happens everyday, lol. Gotta know who we are dealing with here. It’s silly but it’s true.

As a Latino I assure you we just have three sides when we talk about the latinos that aren't from our own country.
1. We hate each other as enemies mainly when the subject is soccer
2. We got together to kill whoever talks bad about our continent because we family
3. We love each other and become hermanos (yes, hermanos. Brazilians also use this word to describe lations from other countries)

The subtext is when Gloria says Bolivian? she is hinting she is from South America and is assuming he is Bolivian because he has indigenous features as Bolivians have many Indigenous features. When he says Venezuelan he has picked up that she is from South America because that’s why she said Bolivia( as most people from Latin America know countries near by)but Gloria is not from the south or west so must be the north/east as he doesn’t know her accent. As she doesn’t have the most commonly known Colombian accent. So he guessed Venezuela. The glare at the end is they are offended they were guessed a different country from their own or/and they are distrustful of other Latinos.

That was so accurate, it's amazing we latinos understand it so instinctively too. We do tend to have prejudices, stereotypes and stuff like that between us. For example, I'm Chilean and other latin american people think that we talk "bad Spanish" and too fast, that no one can understand us, lol. And for example, we see Argetinians as drinking mate, "che", "sh" sounds and their accent, but it's all like a joke. We all are like siblings teasing each other I guess.
