The Midnight Special was the train going down Hwy 90 between Sugar Land and Houston. I've lived in the area all my life and the stories are that time at the old Sugar Land Pen was some of the hardest in the state. Imperial Sugar was founded here (hence the name) and would rent out convicts back in those days. They recently found 90 bodies from those days while developing some of the old prison grounds.
