Perrito is such a lovable character. I like comparing him to Donkey. Both are chatter boxes and the major support character towards the protagonist. Donkey and Perrito were both fairly abused and looked at as outcasts before meeting their respective friend. Both Shrek and Puss opened up to Donkey and Perrito about their vulnerabilities at night. You had Fiona listening to Shrek about how the world always rejected him similar to how Kitty listened to Puss regretting everything about abandoning her before their wedding. The trios definitely have a lot of parallel but of course there are major differences too.
