Russian-installed authorities in Shakhtarsk said on Thursday (October 27) Ukrainian shelling had set ablaze fuel tanks at the town's railway station and oil depot.

Four fuel tanks were burning at the railway station and another three were burning at the depot, the head of the Donetsk People's Republic fire service, Vladimir Murenkov, said.

Firefighters were seen putting out flames engulfing railway tank cars and a larger blaze at the oil depot.

Murenkov said work to extinguish the fires continued at both locations.

The town of Shakhtarsk in Russian-controlled Ukraine is located just 40 kilometres from Donetsk - the capital of the self-proclaimed People's Donetsk Republic.

Ukrainian forces, some equipped with artillery supplied by the United States and other allies, have methodically shelled Russian fuel and ammunition bases and railway lines.

The Shakhtarsk RR fuel transfer facility was apparently struck for the second time overnight. The issue for the orcs goes well beyond resultant fuel shortages. The blocked rail line is the sole supply link from Russia to Donetsk city and the Donetsk Oblast for all war materiel needed to sustain the Kremlin's military operations there. Moreover, the promulgation of the information will almost certainly further demoralize orc troops throughout the Donetsk Oblast and beyond, thus giving Ukraine an information warfare bonus.

Elsewhere I've read, Ukraine used American HIMARS missiles to strike a stopped train, they claim twelve rail tanker cars were damaged - I'm not sure that this is the same place. It's difficult to run the Russian Army without fuel.
EDIT: According to several twitter accounts the same train got hit again today to finish off the job. Note this is the 4th fuel train that the UAF have hit since the start of the war. And a particularly valuable target because the Russians have a limited number of them, and it's the only way to effectively get fuel to the front lines. And as we know, without fuel, tank, truck supplying ammo, and everything else stops.

Hmmmm, something tells me that it's not safe standing there trying to put out a FUEL fire. Maybe it's just me being overly cautious, but standing next to a tanker burning like that.💥.is foam used on fuel fires ?

I hope this does not offend anyone, but both Russian firemen and Ukrainian firemen are doing a hell of a job with everything that been going on in this war.
