How To Use Radar in War Thunder - In 10 Minutes or Less

There's not been a good "how to" radar guide that isn't the length of a full on sitcom posted just yet, so I figured I'd go ahead and do it, especially with the progress Gaijin has made on radars as of late, with the new PRF modes, helmet mounted displays, etc. Let me know what y'all think!

Good tutorial, however, VERY IMPORTANT thing about the IFF: many planes, like the mig23 for example, DO NOT have IFF active when in MTI mode or pulse doppler, only when in search mode! People dont know this and it's one of the reason why betrayals in sim are so common

Thanks for those tips, everyone has a different perspective of how to use the radar modes. I was using TWS on my F-14 for so long and I had a hard time in some situations. Though I use a Tartarus peripheral only to control manually my radar locks for it to be more useful

these 2 verticle lines are NOT the part of ''enemy" designation on your radar, it means that an enemy is ''chosen'' to be targeted by your radar. An enemy ''signe'' is a simpe horizotal bar ONLY

I only run TWS radar on the F14, you can go from "soft-lock" to lock with 1 button while still keeping an eye on them. Nice Phoenix shots

If radar lock enemy, I see some video of other able to change target left to right vice versa without changing lock status. Is there a bind? so that I don't need to un-lock then re lock a new target and is it also a particular radar mode as well

IMO turning "Target cyclic switching of aircraft radar" off is more beneficial in WT's target-rich environments. It's absolutely better if there aren't a lot of targets to lock, but when the radar scope is filled with half a dozen to over a dozen targets, slowly cycling through each one can get REALLY annoying, especially since there's no way to select the previous target, meaning overshooting forces you to cycle through however many enemies in the radar scope AGAIN. But if you have TWS, using it gives you the best of both worlds: fast acquisition of exact targets AND an easy lock at the click of a button without having to "aim" the antenna on a moving target.

When locking a target there are 3 lines on the bottom right that indicate the range of the missile, but for newer planes there is a box instead of the bottom line, what is that?
