Cannot BELIEVE they RUIN that surprise by showing him having flashbacks at the wrestling match. That shot that pans through the roof after the first fight was MINDBLOWING. This director's cut is one of the only ones (heh) that I don't count over the theatricals.

Luckily I have the theatrical on VHS, baby! Really hope the theatrical gets a proper restoration, though.

I know that people prefer the Director's Cut and all, but I just want the original American theatrical release without all the added scenes. It's the one that I watched endlessly in the 80's and 90's on tape and I would like to have a decent copy on blu or even dvd. I have the LD but no way to rip it to DVD. I personally think the pacing is better and I never had a problem about what Rachel's story was. GIMME THE PRIZE!

I really don’t care. I respect the people’s love for this one but I just never connected in its execution, although I love the concept. I think this movie is a narrative mess from what I recall. Let’s not even address the sequels!

I may revisit at some point but I’ve given it a few tries over the years. I’ve shied away from UK releases because I have this OCD twitch about their insistence on using thicker cases than we do in the U.S. Also, I can’t trust that the Blu-Ray will be region-free, so I’ll assess again if/when a domestic release comes into being.
