UN concerned about spread of cholera in flood-hit Pakistan

Healthcare services in Pakistan are struggling to cope with outbreaks of waterborne disease.
Torrential monsoon rains have caused some of the country's worst flooding in decades, displacing hundreds of thousands and leaving many cut off from health services.
The World Health Organization says it is stepping up monitoring for cholera and acute diarrhoea.

Just look at level of irresponsibility in the behaviour of government. there are around 100 cases of dengue and 12, 000 cases of skin disease in Sindh, but the person who provided the CM with data didn't even tried to recheck the figures he wrote. so, imagine the level of irresponsibility in the lower lines of bureaucracy which is totally hijacked by politicians. Morever, 80% politicians of Sindh are the descendents of the people who were given titles by the British empire, so they behave astheir forefathers did. on the other hand, the structure and culture of bureaucracy remains as ancient and as evil of the Empire. even no department of Pakistan or Sindh has Geographical Information System, again the is the epitome of lack of interest in itself.

If Pakistan is not to end up as a failed state, then it is critically necessary that the current “status quo”should change .
We are stuck up in a vicious cycle of socio-political and economic decay, with no solution in sight . We have veritably become “The sick man of Asia”. With our economic balance-sheet eternally in the “red”, and our never-ending political vendettas (basically a contest to grab the “riches” that come with the acquisition of power) the future looks pretty bleak . Although resorting to IMF programs for a dozen times or more, our economic woes have shown no sign of improving . Our debt obligations both internal and external have grown exponentially and merely servicing that astronomical sum (a recurrent incapacitating drain on our National Finances) leaves little for development and public welfare projects . Add to this our other out-sized financial liabilities like clearing the ever ballooning circular debt, and subsidising the money-haemorrhaging public enterprises, our economy starts looking like an accident victim who is pronounced “dead on arrival”.
The question is whom should we hold responsible for our political and economic ruin ? The two dynastically run political parties that have used the revolving door to alternatively lay claim to power, have between them, ruled this country for nearly 40 years . But they have nothing to show for their extended power grab . What they did achieve, though, was that their vast majority joined the billionaires club, at the expense of the country’s financial depredation .
The leadership of the two parties/mafias did not stop at enriching themselves, but they used political patronage and public money to create their own distinct and separate support bases in the institutions, the media and the civil society . They have thus brought about a status quo that stands to benefit the whole patron-client chain .This has practically inured them to any political challenges and has ensured their invincibility and continued dominance of the political scene, never mind the pervading sense of frustration and increasing alienation of the masses.
The crucial pre-requisite for making Pakistan viable and respectable again, and for restoring it’s financial health and outlook, is to break the stranglehold of these two dynasties, and dismantling their elaborate net-work of patron-client relationships that constitute the “status quo”. Otherwise we shall still be doing our abject rounds with the begging bowl in our hands, ten years down the line and the next generation of the Mafia lording it over us .
