Wow.  1980.  Friedman spoke these words 34 years ago.  I am so very THANKFUL that I finally got the message  ...TODAY.  My eyes are now opened.  Friedman had great insight  ...and GUTS.  Thumbs up.

I just love this man so so much... what a decent, honest, ethical human being he truly was.

"But I shall nonetheless take the risk of being dismissed as a crackpot because it seems to me to be so urgent that we deflate these myths, recognize what the reality is,   in order to be able to provide a basis for a change in our philosophy, a reversal of the direction of our thought. In my opinion if we do not do so, if we continue on the road we have been going, if we continue to rely more and more on government, and less and less on the individual, we are condemned to a future of tyranny and misery." -Milton Friedman

This man was a true genius.  Simple gift for making the complicated simple.

I find it amazing how these ideas were spoken about openly in the 1960s to 1990s and no one paid attention. Truly. Wisdom has called out and no one listened. Proverbs 1:20.

Dr. Friedman repeats the concepts of our Republic's Founders. He uses facts to support his economic and social theory's. I have heard him give credit to our Constitutional Republic's Founders and just states that he is just supporting the logic/morality of our Founders. God Bless you, Dr. Friedman...

Best class in economics ever. I agree with the fellow, down the page a little, this needs to be translated to more languages. More people need to know the truth.

His comments about healthcare are spooky, and it's come to light.

Ppl like Milton & Rothbard were the Bastiats of their era. Thomas Sowell carries that on. Anyone unfamiliar with Bastiat should read his book, "The Law".

I believe the robber baron myth exists mainly because it is far easier for people to blame someone else for their own failings than to put in the effort to do something about them to admit to and then correct their own failings. That requires much more mental effort than sitting back or patting oneself on the back or playing the blame game.

Even if the robber baron myth were true it only would prove one is a decendant of fools who put up with them. And being a descendant of fools is nothing to crow about !!

Can you imagine if information like this were taught and understood at the high school level? What a different world it would be.

For all the comments about his genius, which he is, what is more compelling to me is how sweet and kind a man he was.

He explains things so simply and I am grateful for his contribution to economics and America

I remember when higher education was like Milton Friedman spoke. Today, higher education is anything but. The problem is that when Milton Friedman went to college, they actually taught something and most of the time, graduates could find pretty good paying jobs, even if their major was something like sociology. Today, that is not true and I think its because colleges have ceased teaching people how to think and instead teaching people that everything Milton Friedman talked about is what is evil with this country.

I find it interesting that when Friedman talked about the robber barons of the 1880's, he said they are different than today's robber barons. What happened in between? The formation of the Federal Reserve, in 1913. Since that time, economic opportunities have declined and modern fiscal policy have killed the middle class. IMO, since that time, the Federal Reserve has instituted monetary policy designed to make the rich richer at the expense of the middle class and the poor. And that is why we have a system in which the 1% hold almost half the assets.

The SSA notifies you that they are basing your entitlement on "your best" twenty years of employment and that's how they determine the amount you recieve in payments. What if you've been paying into it for 40 years? They just robbed you of 20 years of employment taxes and they make it sound like they are doing you a favor.

I like seeing self determination in people. I don't know the answers or the path that people should take but being around people who wish to dictate the future they are going to have is so much more uplifting than being around people who feel doomed or screwed. Interesting lecture. As always, peace and love

It's a shame that his wisdom is only viewed 175k in 9 years. Americans are in trouble.
