UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon gives his farewell speech

반기문 고별연설 "마음은 유엔에…한국민에 진심 어린 감사"

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon gave his farewell address to the General Assembly on Monday before handing the mantle to former Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Guterres.
Ban said serving as the UN chief for the past decade had been a great privilege,... adding that while he's preparing to leave the post, his heart will remain at the United Nations.
He also thanked the South Korean government and his fellow Koreans for their utmost support.
Ban will step down at the end of the month after serving two five-year terms.
Guterres will replace Ban from January 1st, becoming the ninth secretary general of the UN.
He promised that his tenure will focus on streamlining the UN's internal functions, cultivating peace and promoting sustainable development.
Guterres will be the first former head of government to run the world body.
