At 10 years old, I played Undertale for the first time.

I wish I could go back to those moments. Playing around with the game, looking up secrets and hidden files on YouTube, and never skipping any of the dialogue, because I knew that this was my favorite game. I knew I would never get an experience like this again, and I wondered if I would feel the same way after a week, a month a year, 5 years, 10 years, until the end of my life. My favorite song was fallen down, and I would listen to the song for hours.

Today, I am 16. I grew up in a tough household. I had to deal with my parents divorcing, my father's drinking and smoking problems, and just tough days in general. Recently, I went to my therapist, and I discovered that I am dealing with feelings of anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts.

I wish I could go back to those moments.

I wish that things were better, that I didn't have to deal with so many things growing up, that I could be a "normal kid" with both of his parents.

I wish I could go back to those moments.

This popped up in my recommended, and I just had flashbacks to when I was 10. So I clicked on the video, and man are tears running down my face. While listening to this song, I thought about Undertale, and realized something.

I loved Undertale so much because it was an escape from my own world. A world with a kind and loving guardian, willing to do anything to protect you. Two skeleton bros being humorous, A fish lady trying to kill me and giving me those action moments, an anxious armadillo giving me tips and helping me through the core, and a King, so mighty that he could break the barrier that I fell down.

Despite everything, its still you. Its still me. I'm still here, and listening to this song.

Thank you Toby for giving me my childhood, and thank you Misaki for reminding me of the good moments.
