My grandma's neighbor owned a Pizza Hut franchise and I would always get tons of free pizzas. I had 2 or 3 with me while I was sitting in my car at a light and a homeless dude was sitting with a sign at the intersection. I called him over and handed him a large combo, "Sorry man, it's cold." I watched his eyes light up like he had just found a $100 bill. "Hey THANKS man!" Dude was stoked.

Worked at a home depot with a subway and the subway manager was so good hearted every leftover got given to an employee of either franchise. Almost 0 waste and everyone was so happy and good to each other. Food has powers!

My first job was as a movie theater doorman and concessions worker. We ran the same hustle but with free movie passes. In fact, our manager encouraged us to make friends with restaurant workers by plying free movie passes in exchange for free food. We had a real good relationship with several places that would hook us up with free food during nights we worked in exchange for passes for that restaurant's employees. It was a real nice give and take system.

bro i used to work in a mall food court and they were ALL super chill with giving each other free food, id trade a whole box of turkey chili fries at tokyo express for udon, teriyaki chicken and fried rice, so good. the subway owner used to sneak over and drop a 20$ in the tip jar for us too haha. I got discounts at mall clothing stores too because id deliver fat boxes of food.

What’s amazing is that the “chill to not chill” divide between manager and supervisor roles in the fast food industry is HUGE across the board. Every single restaurant has that divide with no room in between. Someone in academia should conduct a research study.

I had a friend who worked at Pizza hut and she would talk about how on wednesdays the starbucks near by would just call them and “Hey we will give you three large ice coffees for three slices of pizza”. And I think about it a lot

my friends who didnt understand restaurants when we were teens, i found it super annoying when they'd ask me for free/disocunted food and i had an irrational fear they'd come and ask the wrong person the wrong question or try to apply.. yea i didn't want friends at my work, im glad im older now and my friends understand that you cannot get free shit from me 90% of the time
