As an artist and constant sketcher and note-taker, this was my dream laptop. It was too expensive so I settled for a Surface Pro.

Also, people are not buying a detachable tablet laptop with drawing and touch capabilities to play games!

I have one of these (1st Gen). Still works great bar the battery draining way quicker than when I first got it

These things are for designers mainly. Someone who is doing a full array of things, all of office, CAD, sketching/marking up, video conferencing

If you only fall into one of those categories, there is something out there cheaper that does the one or two things you do the most better.

This is more of an 'all in one' rather than a 'two in one'

Good review Dieter! I just wanted to respond to the question you and Nilay keep asking about who this laptop is for. The Surface Book is tailor made for the design and construction industry. You need graphics horse power when you are designed at your desk but you need a large tablet when you go to your construction site to look a your drawings or fly through your model. I know many of my colleagues in the architecture, engineering and construction industry that love their Surface Books.

I feel like people don’t cut enough slack for companies other than apple even when their innovations are quite phenomenal.this is top heavy?has he even seen the new iPad pro’s keyboard.Most reviewers give way too much leeway for apple and praise even minor upgrades and changes but don’t acknowledge enough real innovations in design and quality of hardware in other areas and hence other than apple no tech company can really push any true change, they end up following apple even when their changes are eventually detrimental to the customer.Don’t know if its an inherent bias unknown to them or if they are really partial to apple.
