🇺🇸 Trump administration proposes freezing fuel efficiency standards | Al Jazeera English

Continuing its assault on federal rules designed to protect the environment and combat global warming, the Trump administration has proposed weakening future fuel efficiency standards for American cars and trucks.

The new proposed standards would also take away an individual state's ability to set standards above federal requirement - an attack on the higher California standard that is also followed by many other states.

Activists warn that this will be bad for both consumers and the planet.

BUT, it will save the auto industry billions enabling them to hire more and not raise the price of new cars as much as it is estimated with the regulations.

Will cost consumers? What is keeping consumers from buying higher mpg vehicles? Nothing. If consumers want to save money on fuel they can buy hybrids, no one is stopping them.

An eyewitness in Qatar's Emiri Diwan confirmed that Prince Tamim bin Hamad had a violent dispute with his father, prompting Tamim to take out his gun and fire shots at his father in the air.

the honda civic (probably 1.6L) 1984 had 55 mpg with vtec and passed fume tests without a catalysator.
the most fuel efficient and clean burning engine in history with +100 hp.
should build on that technology instead of go backwards.
could have +200 hp and only a little lower mpg by now and low fumes.
