Good news on the smart system!
1. Push - down button
2 push bike forward it starts moving done so simple on Gen4 smart systems and now has an awesome holding stage so you can get back on the emtb without it rolling backwards! Love the smart system!
Anything with green leds on the battery just avoid it get the blue leds itll be the latest smart system its just a massive improvement in gen 4

@andrew ford for the Bosch walk assist to work easily and quickly the best steps are:

1- Put the display into 1 of the assist levels as you mentioned (it doesn’t matter which one as long as it’s not in the “off” position)
2- Press the “walk assist” button once (do not keep it pressed)
3- Press and hold the “+” button and the bike will move forward, release the “+” button and the bike stops.

The multi step process is a must especially when say mountain biking as one has the potential to slip on steep inclines and the 2 step process adds additional safety.

I found this baffling as well. Bonus points for adding a "+" at the end of walk on the display which I guess signifies that you should press the + button? Complaints aside the plus button is significantly more comfortable to press than the walk button so now that I know how it works I wouldn't want them to change it.
