Here are four lightsaber forms used during combat by both Jedi and Sith.

Form I - Shii-Cho
The earliest form of lightsaber combat, Shii-Cho is popular among Padawans. This simple style can be used against multiple opponents and balances damaging and disarming tactics.

Form II - Makashi
An elegant style with a smooth presentation, Makashi focuses on precise attacks against a single opponent.

Form III - Soresu
A defensive form, Soresu emphasizes opponent analysis and employs controlled movements that cause opponents to wear out and make mistakes.

Form IV - Ataru
A brash, demanding style, Ataru employs the Force to enhance movement, typically through acrobatics, providing the ability to attack from any direction.

My favorite form is Ataru and Mikashi. Ataru is one of my faves because of Qui Gon's use of it and same with Mikashi how Dooku uses it.

My personal favorite form is Form 1 Shii Cho, i feel that in the hands of a true master, it could be an incredibly dangerous style making the user a deadly combatant against 1 or multiple duelists of blaster users

Soresu's point here is explained correctly, as seen when kanan is fighting against inquisitor, the inquisitor was indeed worn out and didn't even thought to fly away with his spinning lightsaber, and just spinned his lightsaber in defense out of fear instead

Biggest mistake: he didn't learn from his first fight against vader, and allowed his lightsaber to be broken again

There is a form of lightsaber called a broadsaber that is built more like an actual sword than a lghtsaber which is more like a baton

It is unpopular with Jedi and Sith because it requires simple swordsmanship concepts like edge alignment and it can only cut with its edges rather than the entire surface area of the weapon (which should actually make it more popular for Jedi since you can't even hurt anyone with so much of the weapon's surface area, making it a more peaceful form of lightsaber)

Wasn’t form 3 more of a defensive form? If so that wouldn’t make sense for the sith to use it.

when has a sith ever used form 3? that seems the antithesis of sith emotion. sure its more tactical but theyd usually prefer agressive forms while soresu is the pacifists form.
