'Five nations cannot...: How Jaishankar defended India's case for UNSC membership

EAM S Jaishankar reiterated that a permanent seat for India at the UNSC as well as reforms to the Council, remains India’s main priority. Addressing a business community event in New Zealand, Jaishankar asserted that India voices the interest and aspirations of a broad set of countries. Leading India's charge in the bid to reform the UN body, the external affairs minister said that contemporary issues cannot be solved by only a few countries.

It's been more than 10years, now India should stop bidding for UNSC seat directly. Rather build an organisation of Asian + Middle Eastern + African + South American countries which actually works for global causes, rather than eyeing a defunct UN Seat.

These should be the 7 Permanent Members/Groups in the United Nations Security Council -

1. EURASIA
2. AFRICA
3. INDIA(Including the neighbouring Countries in the Subcontinent)
4. NORTH AMERICA
5. SOUTH AMERICA
6. ARABIA
7. AUSTRALIA (Including the Neighbouring Island Countries)

The above members should be selected keeping in view the plate tectonics of the Earth. A single tectonic plate represents a single region, and thus one Permanent Seat. This will ensure uniform development & power distribution throughout the Earth.

The monopoly of 5 nations using the UNSC veto power to thwart the will of the UN - as a whole - needs to be altered Adding India, as the 6th member would be one step in the right direction.

Its impossible for India to get UNSC membership after India started buying Russian oil. After external affairs minister said every country has its own interest, the US started supplying F-16 to Pakistan and defended it. Forgot about UNSC its never going to happen.
