I love Warhammer and D&D, het I never heard of this game. So, when the digital version was on sale, me and my xbox buddies gave it a try. In a period of 2 months I've had countless, multi-hour long sessions of wheezing laughter and cheeky interactions. Truly an amazing game.

I literally remembered this game from my childhood while chatting to a colleague today, now I just purchased the game on Amazon, and am brushing up on rules via your video. Can't wait to teach my little girl when she's old enough - bring on the next generation!

I've only played twice and didn't finish either time, but it's a great game. Feels really immersive (maybe because I was drinking) and building up your character made it feel like a video game.

We've added an 'Opps!' to this video review pointing out you can't take a follower as a reward for beating another character unless your character has a special ability or casts a spell that lets you. Thanks Doma for pointing this out!

Thanks pezzapoo, glad you liked it. Have a look at our two Talisman expansion reviews too, if you've not already done so. More expansion reviews on their way soon. Love Talisman!

Introduced this to friends and family last weekend, all massive board game nerds. They all loved it, now painting up all the characters and looking forward to adding some expansions slowly. Great video, allowed us to role into the game with minimal hassle.

I randomly remembered playing this with my brother and our confused but enthusiastic mom today, I brought it up to my brother and neither of us could remember the name. Thankfully, I brought it up again a few hours later and me and my brother tried to remember and he did! Definitely gonna get it again and play it with him

Flipping heck, I remember reading this but forgot all about it and you have also answered my question spot on as always.
This game is incredibly brilliant, so simple yet so involved and as for the cards, I just love the way they are written and they're so brilliantly thought up. I am playing tonight with the main board (obviously) and also the Highlands, Woodlands as well as our good old mate "The Grim Reaper" and venturing all 3 boards... Brilliant night 😊 On Sunday I am buying 2 pasting tables, a 6ft X 4ft board and using all 4 expansions and a hidden alternative ending, yep it's gonna be a long day, but a fantastic one. Brilliant reply as always, many thanks 😊

I love Talisman! I was introduced to it as an adult by a friend who grew up with the 2nd edition (I think) and it served as my introduction to role playing. As a result, while playing with them, there are actions I won't take based on my alignment (for example, if I'm good, I won't attack another good character) and I love to just let my character do their thing even if, as a player, I know it's a bad idea (like going against a much stronger monster because my characters is good but naive).
Thanks for the review!

I used to play this with my now wife. It's her birthday soon. This video has made me realise it's an update of the same game. Think I'll be making a purchase. Thanks Bottled Imp.

Ah, memories! I fondly remember playing the first edition around the time it first came out. It was a good game to play with friends and family who probably weren't quite ready for hardcore RPGs or more advanced board games. I recently played the iPad version of the game, which served as a decent nostalgia trip. Anyone else who's on the fence about shelling out for the full board game might like to try the digital version first to get a feel for the game's mechanics.

Thank you for this review. I have difficulty finding good reviews for the game, but I don't know why. I love the exploration aspect of this game to the point of changing the rules a bit to find as many magic objects or get 7 magic objects and the talisman before going to the Inner Region, just so I can explore more. There are people that do not like the game--but I think they could probably modify it a little to remove what they don't like. Thank you again!

Hi Ken, I hope you had a good weekend 😊 I did actually spend 6 hours with my granddaughter on Sunday using the 5 Talisman boards as well as the Grim Reaper. Although we only concluded an ending when Crystals character got killed, we did actually manage to venture through all the 4 large corner expansions and got to know the game a lot better. Neither of us succeeded in beating the expansion endings, but still had a brilliant time, which left me agreeing with you... 12 hours is a guide to completing the full game, but that's without any of the alternative endings.Playing with and explaining the game to a 6yr old, really does slow everything down, but I really don't care, she's so grown up and she finds the characters exciting.I ended up using a 9mm sheet of mdf 5ft X 4ft, which leaves plenty of comfy room around the edges for excess cards.A question for you, I came across a dungeon card called "Pied Piper" which read... Roll 2 dice and move the Piper that many spaces clockwise around the board. Do I assume that when it moves as far as it can which is the "Lord of Darkness" square, that it gets discarded at that point. One last thing Ken, when I packed the game up, I thought it a good idea to have another read through the rules to see if I was missing anything. I realised that you can only use each spell once. I thought spells were for keeps till you were made to lose them. I had used the same spell numerous times and wondered why 😆So there you go, as long as we keep playing, we keep learning.Kind regards, Terry

Good to finally see a fantastic review of my favourite board game, I have been an avid fan of the game for over a decade and have most of the expansions. I have recently introduced it to my 3 children and they completely love the experience, especially as we role play our characters, nothing more hillarious than someone picking up the hag and loosing their unicorn or being turned into a slimy toad :) will you be doing anymore Talisman reviews Ken? and have you seen the news for the next big box expansion, Cataclsym, it completely replacing the main board with a new one how awesome is that. Anyway keep up the good work :)
