The innocence of the kid, and childhood memories will never be forgotten. This is probably the best time in this kids life, and also for the dads. Let’s all remember it’s the people and relationships in life that make the difference.

I feel sorry for the tens of thousands of kids in our country that don't have a father or father figure to share their lives with.

Amen brother. Seeing this boy fishing is what we're missing today. He has positive reinforcement from his family. Keep that boy busy, keep him out of trouble. Y'all God Bless and be safe

That kid took me back to my childhood for a few seconds, thank you!

The absolute very best part is the child is enjoying himself and no adult is screaming like a damn fool on how to hold a rod or do this and do that. What makes a grown man loose his mind when someone hooks a fish? Good job kid and adults

As a boy a little bigger than that, I had caught a pretty nice flounder.
He was putting up a good fight and then suddenly not.
Both dad and I thought the fish had shook himself loose. That wasn't what had happened though.
The difference in depths from where I had hooked the flounder to the surface was enough to push his swim bladder out. This to a nearby shark spelled "candy".
The shark took a bite that perfectly excised the belly and the gills from The Flounder. By the time I got it to the surface, the only cleaning left to do was to fillet it.

"We're gonna need a bigger boat!!"

Fishing is just a wonderful thing to teach kids. And the memories of both parties are always so fond and pure.

Makes me miss my Grandad more than I already do every day.

This is a moment that will forever be etched into this young man’s memory. I feel sorry for the boys stuck in front of their phones or computers. So much to live for in the real world…..cherish these moments

Kid, you're on the right path. You witnessed nature in a pure form and loved it! Sadly we're living in a world that gets upset by predators doing what they have done for millions of years.

This could be anywhere in the Keys and yet, I still feel like I've been here. To think I've swam in that deep, dark water so many times in my life with no incident, now I don't think I'll ever go back.

I was taught as a kid that mangroves are perfect hatcheries for fish to leave their eggs in or the young to hide in, which makes them perfect hunting grounds for small or young predators as well. This is probably brackish water, right? I'd definitely expect young or laying sharks to be in there. 😙🦈

Same here, the kid takes me back in time also. This happened to my brother when we were kids and fishing in the keys with our dad and grandpa. Thanks for the memory.

My Mom, whos now in her 70s, told me that when she was a little girl about 6 or 7, her and her brother were swimming in the water as my Grandpa fished off the opposite side of the boat. He hooked into something big and finally got it to the boat and it was a shark. Started yelling for the kids to get in the boat. Right in those same waters you're fishing in this video.

Bulls especially young are in rivers and brash water more, closer to the park. Fly fished in mangos and caught so many dam lemons that just went back for lunch.

Just smiling at seeing a young boy spending invaluable time with his Dad. The shark incident is going to be a well-told family story forever - rightfully so.
Listen to how the Dad was speaking to his son about the fish and letting his son discuss the fish he thinks he has on his line. Some good parenting in my humble opinion.

That kid handled the situation pretty well. He’ll have a lasting memory of this occasion.
