Söngvakeppnin 2017: Reacting to the 12 Competing Songs

The 12 songs competing in Söngvakeppnin 2017 - Iceland's national selection for Eurovision - have been released. We listened to the entries for the first time and filmed our reaction!

I have been itching for you guys to review Songvakeppnin because it's the one show I really look forward to. Iceland are one of my favourite countries in terms of Eurovision musical output because the quality is always impeccable. I've loved the majority of the Icelandic entries over the years, since Páll Oscar in 1997.

This year Svala is my absolute favourite! That modern industrial sound is so current (hello Aminata Savagodo), her vocals really soar in the chorus (reminiscent of Robyn) and the overall 80's sound just does it for me. I can imagine the music video now, driving through a quiet industrial area on a night, plenty of smoke, shoulder pads and beauty shots! Good look powerful live vocal should mean you'll walk it.

My favorites are Paper and Hypnotized. I told Svala that I loved her song, and she told me she loved me, so I can definitely feel the love from Iceland, and that is who I am rooting for.

Deban, we have the same favourite, "Again" is a stunning song, the last chorus literally gives me goosebumps. I love Aron Brink's song too, it makes me happy.
