'You can find art anywhere and make treasure out of it' creator makes Toronto scenes in miniature

Tracy Ealdama loves recreating the exterior beauty of iconic stores, diners and other scenes around Toronto using everyday objects like wooden coffee stirrers, plastic bottle caps and barbecue skewers. “You can find treasure everywhere and make art with it,” says Ealdama who now lives in B.C., and got her start by making a miniature rendition of Kim’s Convenience storefront three years ago.

Get out those magnifying glasses, Best in Miniature is back! In the world's most prestigious miniature competition, hosted by writer and stand-up comedian Aba Amuquandoh (This Hour Has 22 Minutes), artists go to epic lengths to craft their tiny dream homes, one pocket-sized room at a time.

This season, watch 10 skilled artists from across Canada and the globe create detailed masterpieces, in 1:12 scale, under a ticking clock. While the goal is to make it mini, the competition is huge as the highly skilled artists fight for prizes and advantages in every episode. Returning judges, acclaimed miniaturist and doll house maker Emma Waddell and Canadian design expert Micheal Lambie decide which miniaturist will be sent home each week while the others continue to compete for the $15,000 grand prize and the coveted title "Best in Miniature."
