I've visited Pyramiden in 1995, when it was in service, and in 1999, after it was closed. When in service it definetly was a better place than Barentsburg, which I also visited in those years.

Compared to many sites in the former Soviet Union, Pyramiden is in fantastic nick - no rust, no graffiti and not even any cobwebs that I could see. Don't need to open it up to your average tourist - they would just vandaliseand wreck what remains.

It may have been a Russian settlement, but Svalbard is Norwegian.

It was founded by Sweden in 1910 and sold to the Soviet Union in 1927

Pyramiden is on the Russian side. Not much to do with Norway really. :)

This video is supposed to promote tourism to Pyramiden? I feel it has done the exact opposite, especially with this choice of music. I love Norway, but this looks like the most depressing vacation ever.
