Timberline (by Emmylou Harris) - Ben Abraham

I have been asked to support Emmylou Harris on her tour around Australia in November 2012 and as soon as I got the call I set to learning a song of hers for YouTube.

You may remember that I'm not a big fan of singing other people's songs on here but I feel justified in this case firstly because of the tour but also because Emmylou is often overlooked as a writer and I thought it would be a good opportunity to share her talents with some of my friends and followers.

Having said that...I broke a bit of a major rule of singing and changed a few words of the song - but only because it would have been awkward to perform the original. The second verse originally has the line 'with a flower in my hair and a gown of calico' that I have sung as 'with a part in my hair and a coat of calico'. Hopefully Emmylou and cowriter Paul Kennerley don't mind...

She truly is a true legend, her new album Hard Bargain is fantastic and it's a great honour to have been asked to play shows with her.
