Premise: An Irish shepherding family thrust into battle on several fronts: internal strife, hostility within the family, rivalry with another farmer. Paternalism, heritage, and the generational trauma cycle through the cultural prism of Ireland.

I wish this movie really had more warnings about the abuse on screen. It was very very hard to watch. The acting was amazing but I agree with other commenters I wish the violent scenes were more implicit. This was honestly awful to watch and reminded me so much about my upbringing in rural France. Farm life is the harshest.

I really like Barry, but I'd love to see him in more drama roles like Banshee or even a comedy. We just automatically know now that he'll either be a weirdo or murderer. Obviously I'll keep watching whatever he's in though 😆

I agree, I thought Barry Cogan was too old to be acting in this role as a teenager. Although he is a good actor and I love to see him in movies I think the casting director had it wrong when they cast someone this old for this role.

I always hate when exposition is communicated cheaply and the audience is spoon fed information, but man I wish they would’ve explained the sheep leg thing better.

First time viewer of you guys. Wanted to see what someone else thought about the movie and liked your review! Pretty much had all the same thoughts. The movie is kinda hard to parse logically, so you have to navigate it more emotionally instead, which is still a bit hard considering how morbid and miserable everything is.

I love Colm Meany! I can't believe he still pops up in things. Apart from Patrick Stewart, he's had the most successful career of anybody from TNG.

I think the title refers to bring them (the sheep) down to market. Colm's flock is superb and reknown as such, but he won't bring them oe sel them. Why keep a herd and not sell? This is a farming area and the other sheep farmers would not understand Colm's reluctance to sell them for a profit. I'm just speculating here.

I just watched this. The only thing I knew about it beforehand was a sort of a thriller. I was a bit shocked by some of the scenes as it played out. Warning! There were a few scenes of animal cruelty depicted in this film. A lot for my liking, tbh. But if you're looking for a solid thriller with great performances, definitely check it out👍🏻3/5
