My apologies guys, vcenter in the lab was an OVA file that was imported into one of my ESXi hypervisors. This is what needs to be rebooted not your virtual machines. Hey no ones prefect. For those that pointed it out. Thank you. 🤓

Pretty good but yeah, you shouldn't need to shutdown your VMs, just vCenter. Also VMware is trying to move away from domain joining your vCenter appliance (for some reason, their reasoning was kind of fucky when I read the article) so I think as of now they would want you to try integrating it with ADFS and then some OIDC identity providers in the future when they add the functionality.

Shouldn’t you be able to reboot VCenter without shutting down all your vm’s? Joining should not affect any running vm

You don't need to shut down your VMs to restart the vcenter.
