SATA = Select All That Apply

The voodoo trickery question format from the mother of all exams, the infamous NCLEX.

Truth be told, nobody is out to trick you. Only to draw out the best in you, including how well you can focus. I thought I'd share some tips that might help you navigate through this monster.

Two major suggestions first:
1. Mental Aerobics
2. Stay Calm!!

Here are 7 tips that will help you slay this monster:

1. Read the question twice. Every. Single. Time.
2. Is it a 'positive' or 'negative' question?
3. Do not glance at the answers before reading the question (twice).
4. Are there absolutes?
5. Focus on the patient, unless otherwise stated.
6. Test your theory.
7. Psychosocially acceptable?

Until next time...

I'm watching just for the "check your own pulses" and "throat-punches"; the other advice that comes along with it is a nice bonus.

The All Answers Correct rule did come up for me on the NCLEX this year. For me they were almost exclusively community questions (Know what populations are indicated for vaccinations, risk groups for certain diseases, ect.). But don't forget about 84% of people pass the first time!! Don't get hung up on details they want to know you're safe above all else.

Mentally cover up each option and treat them separate from one another. Each one is evaluated on its own related to the original question..
