Thanks for making this video, I've been flying the pmdg 747 and before that the ifly 747 and I've not flown anything else since I started flight simming a year and a half ago so it's really daunting to learn a whole new aircraft, I'll probably account for 10000 views before I'm done learning the 717. (I learn at a ultra slow pace) thanks for making it easier tho!

About the elevator bug on the flight control check, well... it's not really a bug. That is because the control column doesn't connected to the whole elevator surface. It only connected mechanically to the tabs on the elevator surface. The rest of the elevator surface move aerodynamically relative to the deflection of the tabs. This is indeed unique to the 717.

That's why the operation manual says to move the control column to full aft position first. After positioning the control column to full aft, the operation manual only says to observe elevator deflection, not full aft elevator deflection. After that move the control column to full forward. After that the operation manual says observe elevatore boxes green in full forward position.

See the difference in wording used by the manual to describe the behavior expected when moving the control full aft vs full down. That's why the order can't be reversed, because after the elevator deflected fully down, even when the tabs is moved full aft position after that, at such a low speed or even when stopped like that, the air just doesn't strong enough to fight the gravity to lift the elevator back.

Ya know…..u can input the zfw directly into the loader using the keyboard instead of trying to approximate it using the sliders. Simply place the curser of the mouse directly on the numbers where the zfw is displayed and enter away!

I haven't played P3D in a while and this video definitely helps with the TFDI 717! Quick question, how can I set my cameras within the cockpit to a keyboard assignment? (For ex: Pressing 1 places me in the captain jumpseat, 2 for the overhead, etc..)

Hey enjoyed the video but one thing. Heading versus track is not a US-European thing. They are different. A heading is what you fly based on the compass. The track then is the direction the aircraft actually flies across the ground taking into account the effect of wind. In nil wind they are they same. So if a SID says track 024 for example, you have to set a heading that will make the aircraft fly that track across the ground.

Unfortunately Delta is set to retire all 91 of their 717’s in December of 2025. The A-220 is taking over. Hawaiian and Quantas Air Link I am not sure of.
