President Vladimir Putin adopted a new foreign policy strategy as per which Russia has identified India and China as its main allies on the world stage. Russia’s new foreign policy strategy highlights the importance of "the deepening of ties and coordination with friendly sovereign global centres of power and development located on the Eurasian continent." Russia will continue to build up a particularly privileged strategic partnership with India with a view to enhance and expand cooperation in all areas on a mutually beneficial basis, the new foreign policy singles out. Russia is giving so much weightage to India of late that Putin is planning to participate in the SCO and G20 summit - slated to held in India this year. The new anti-west foreign policy strategy, aimed at curbing western ‘dominance’, comes a day after Finland clears the last hurdle to join NATO - a diplomatic and strategic defeat for President Putin.
