Springboks - Player Ratings versus Argentina.

In this video, I take a look at the player ratings for the Springboks' recent victory over Argentina. We discuss the performances of the key players, both good and bad, and give our thoughts on who impressed us the most.

In doing so we will look at the ratings given by three international rugby websites - Rugby365, RugbyPass and Planet Rugby and two local media houses namely IOL and The Citizen.

We start by looking at the backs, where Damian Willemse and Canan Moodie were both outstanding. Willemse was a constant threat in attack, while Moodie scored a try and was a menace in the air. Andre Esterhuizen and Makazole Mapimpi also put in good performances, while Lukhanyo Am had a quiet game but still made some important contributions.

In the forwards, Trevor Nykakane and Bongi Mbonambi were the standout performers. Nykakane was a dominant presence at the scrum, while Mbonambi was excellent at the breakdown and in the loose. Thomas du Toit and Jean Kleyn also played well, while Marvin Orie and Deon Fourie had mixed games. Franco Mostert was disappointing, while Jasper Wiese was anonymous.

Overall, it was a good performance from the Springboks, and there were a number of players who put their hands up for selection for the World Cup. However, there are still a few areas where they need to improve if they want to be successful in France.
