A note to everyone. Remember to clean up ALL the metal shavings thoroughly. I found out why the hard way after having projects get spots from the metal shavings after casing the leather. For the longest time I thought I was having a mold problem and maybe the side I had was contaminated somehow. When I switched to another side it continued to show up. I was still converting my cargo trailer into my shop at the time, so there was a lot of metal shavings from filling fittings and sharpening chisels and tools.

I make this comment mainly because he mentioned using the marble as a stop. That's where I was doing my sharpening, and even if I wiped the marble down, it wasn't enough. I had to clean the hell out of my marble about half dozen times before it all got cleared up. I try to sharpen outside the shop now, just to prevent any unseen problems
