This is one of those videos that I still end up having to watch other videos to learn.

LOL at all these people.. He's giving you more than just a how-to. Thisi is you all have a better understanding of the sharpening technique and the angle when sharpening. I learn a lot. Thanks for the video!

Thank you for posting this! I had previously tried to sharpen my scissors with a whetstone just like a knife, and didn't realize I needed to follow the angle on the blade rather than sharpen to a point. Now the scissors are cutting very badly because I changed the angle of the cutting surface. Your video shows me what I need to do to fix my scissors! Great explanation!

Thank you SO MUCH for the way you took the trouble to show what you're talking about UP CLOSE! I've been watching every freaking scissor sharpening video, and read non-video instructions, but---okay, call me dumb!--I was not grasping the exact mechanism of it til this video. It has been really annoying that I had this mental block I guess! But this was the perfect way to explain it and I'm very grateful to you, I just had to tell you....thanks again!

Thank you for taking the time to explain with thorough visuals. I absolutely LOVE videos like these, that not only explain “how to” but also “why” we need to do specific things!
After watching, I now feel confident to sharpen my scissors and make my little hobbyist life much easier.

The back side of the blades are cut concave. It shows when the light crosses the back side of the blade. Scissors can be ruined by cutting the back side. If the blades are very dull, get them sharpened professionally.

To create a seven-minute video on how to sharpen a pair of scissors without actually demonstrating how to sharpen a pair of scissors is quite an achievement.

Thank you for showing a straightforward chore that I knew nothing about!  Much appreciated!

My mother was born in 1922. They never had these fancy gadgets then. Mom showed me that in order to sharpen scissors all you needed to do was to cut a few lengths off of sandpaper. Not sure what grade she used, but I know it sure worked. Still use that today.

Thank you, the amount of commentary was excellent and I needed it. Cheers, this is the only scissor sharpening video you need.

You are going at it the hard way. Just get yourself some sandpaper 50 grit (coarse grit paper for rough sanding) then some 100 grit (fine grit paper for fine sanding). You rake the 50 grit and fold it in half. coarse side facing outward. You cut the sandpaper several times all the way across and wipe down the blades with a clean soft towel. Then you take the 100 grip paper and fold it the same way. Cut just as many times as the 50 grit. Then wipe the blades with a clean soft towel and do it all over again. Your scissors will be razor sharp.

Thank you so much for this. My favorite pair of scissors got really dull and because of your video I was able to sharpen them. I'm very grateful to you.

yay fixed it and I didn't even need to sharpen them. I have Fine crafting/quilting scissors that couldn't cut yarn very well. So I came looking for a sharpening video. When you said to take them apart I grabbed my tool kit and promptly screwed the screw in more and tested them on the yarn and it cut like butter. I had been running my fingers up and down the blades thinking they didn't feel damaged. Now my other pair are pitted and need to be sharpened but I mostly use them for paper or fine wire I know bad me. So thank you for saving me some time and now I know how to fix the other pair if I ever get around to it.

This video is simple easy straightforward into the point without all the added BS to confuse someone like myself who wants to learn how to sharpen scissors quickly properly and effectively the first time. I love scissors and knives and have hundreds of both and I'm so excited to tend to them all now. Thanks you rock! Amy

You'll never see more rude comments full of sharpening snobbery than on a video about sharpening scissors. You did good; I think what you were trying to explain was that scissors are usually only BEVELED on one side of each of the blades, like a true hatchet's blade is. I'm going to start on restoring a pair of scissors that belonged to my grandmother today; I'll get around to sharpening them soon, but today I'll be sanding rust off of the blades. They are a good pair made by Case, so I want to get them back into fine shape.
