The Return To The Start!

Ah! The memories this stepchart brings! ^_^ Before Namco's Time Out Arcade ever introduced locally Dance Dance Revolution in the small city I grew up in [Albany, Georgia]; a "mini-mall" shopping complex meets in-door flea market run and maintained mostly by Asians [Koreans to be more exact!] so-named the Millennium Mall: introduced Pump It Up to the small city of Albany, Georgia! Although much thanks to a purchase made by my younger brother from a video game store so-named Babbage's in the Albany Mall Dance Dance Revolution became the very first "Dance Game" I ever played... Pump It Up was the first dance game I played on a foot Pad! =D This all happened during the time Dreamcast and Nintendo 64 were THE thing and "Dolphin" (GameCube) was being talked about. ^_^

At the time we began playing Pump It Up at the just-downtown Millennium Mall -- I had not ever seen anything like it! Sure playing DDR was fun and interesting and all--catching "Musical Arrows as Notes" in time with music with your hands but THIS--this was played with your feet! O.O I had recently turned 19 and had begun my first Spring Semester during my going-on second year at Darton College when I was virtually "dragged" onto the machine to give it a try. Didn't do so hot the first time. Second time either. The third time did a little better but was still in awe at how different this game was from the one at home [DDR on the Sony Playstation]. The music was enjoyable but was little like what was on DDR or local radio!

Of course it was! It was all in Korean. ^_^
This in addition to the "5-Star" [5-point] dance pad--4 arrows and one "center step..." also was WOW! O.O

The background animations playing out like a "Mini Story" or "Mini Anime Series" is what truly intrigued me about this video game. The original DDR we had at home had 3D rendered backgrounds and designs but this was very different. Sometimes I'd skip my turn and watch my siblings play just to view the cool and sometimes bizarre backgrounds! [Space Fantasy!? Oh My GOD! Is that a molester in "Run To You!?"] However... I would not play "Comin' Back" for just-at 3-year's time when Putt-Putt would transform from Putt-Putt Golf And Games [which I grew up with] to The All American Fun Park [which had smoking hot employees o.o] and installed full-armed Laser Tag, a batting cage, and BOTH machines in the arcade: DDR & Pump It Up!

The "Light Steps" are meant to be a "remixed-rendition" of the original steps which to this day is still some of the most fun I have ever had in a Dance Chart hands-down! [for DDR or Pump! ^_^] At the time was only able to do the first two levels for some songs [drop to your hands on hardest!? WHOA! o.o] The "Standard Steps" essentially became my favorite set as the desire was to create a "4-arrow" fun song stepchart on-rhythm with the song in a style kind of like "Daikenkai" (Which I had only recently played at the time). Initially the "Heavy Steps" were "on-tempo" with the music, but after completing the chart--I went back over it a few months later to add a couple of arrows and made a mistake and offset the chart! ...It turned out to be a "Good mistake" as the "new" steps rode the rhythm and had a quirky feel to them that I really came to like. =) After sharing on Bemanistyle, I decided to leave it that way! And so the steps stayed minor offset and I hope you enjoy all 3 sets! =D Thank You for taking the time to read! =D
