One of the most inventive tips for me! Thanks for that, Carl ;)

great tip!
I will use this to our shopping list. I shared it with my husband, I write it at home, and he can go and shop. I love sections here like vegetable, milk products etc, I did it last time as subtask, but this way it is better.

Would you say that “sections” takes the place of this trick?

Thank you. A nice trick I use for grouping tasks within a project as "Active", " Repeating", "On Hold", etc. As an aside, you stated the to "Bold" a text string, place two exclamation signs immediately before and after that text string. Well, some time ago I found (or had been told) that a double underscore works as well. Note that a single underscore at each end "Italicizes" that text string.

I've just accidentally found another way to make the task non-completable — you need to put double-mark ":" at the end of the task and it will work the same way :)

Does the task indent feature of a task still exist in Todoist? I could not reproduce what you did.

and a question:
I have ADHD, I must to write lot more tasks as a "normal" person :) I have also some reminders, things what I would like to do every day - if I have time. But this makes my list very overwhelming. I ssomehow possible to make sections in the today view, similar to the projects? I think, if I close them I don't see 50 tasks, only a few, like "morning routine", " work routine", task1, task2, ... "evening routine" I also like to write tasks for my kids, because I have to remind them, what makes the picture lot more chaotic...

Yes! This just became one of my favorite Todoist features. Who knew I had so many un-completable tasks?! Thanks so much!

This could be a very useful feature, but I'm not seeing how to expand the non-completable task anywhere except in it's project folder. Using your example as a guide, I created a TEST project with an nc task and three subtasks indented below it. In TEST, the nc task shows the up/down arrow to contract/expand the subtask list. This works fine in TEST. However, when I give the nc task a schedule of Today and move to the Today folder, I see the nc task, but don't see any way to "open" it and view the subtasks. One of the other comments suggested putting a colon (:) at the end of the nc task to make it a "section." I couldn't get anything going with that either. Thanks for all your great work; you're a wonderful teacher!

Hello Carl, thank you so much for all your great videos on Todoist. This help a lot when trying to implement gtd with this great tool. I have tried to use your tip to create a task that cannot be completed simply beginning the name of the task with an asterisk. This is not working for me. The asterisk symbol is visible. Do you have an idea ? Thanks a lot.

This doesn't work for me. It just puts the task in with an asterisk and the check off circle.
