SCP 914 is a Safe Class anomaly also known as The Clockworks.

SCP-914 is a large clockwork device weighing several tons and covering an area of eighteen square meters, consisting of screw drives, belts, pulleys, gears, springs and other clockwork.
When an object is placed in the Intake Booth, a door slides shut, and a small bell sounds. If the knob is turned to any position and the key wound up, SCP914 will “refine” the object in the booth.

My favorite 914 experiment was a chess board with one white piece moved, setting 1:1. The result was the same board with one black piece moved. They moved another white piece and put it in again on 1:1, and another black piece was moved. When the researcher finally stopped he said "I know it's just a machine and it isn't sentient, but why is it winning?" It's a nice little piece of humor in the SCP universe.

Many of the people who submitted questions in this don't fully grasp the mechanisms of this SCP as a lot of them keep using rough and very fine expecting them not to be completely destroyed or turned dangerously anomalous.

did you know that one time, during a cross-test, they set the dial to “very fine” and put a photo of SCP-173 in it. they activated it and it came out as a photo of 096

I wonder what would happen if you ordered "perfection" from SCP 294 and put that fluid through the clockworks on each setting? Would 'rough' and 'coarse' break it down to its individual components? What is the equivalent to perfection? How would it be improved on 'fine'? What would happen on 'very fine'? Also, what if we ordered 'happiness' or 'pure joy' and put that through on very fine? Might we get a clone of SCP 999?

I feel that there is a misunderstanding about how the "very fine" Setting works. It doesnt just give the object a random anomalous quality it makes the thing BETTER in an anomalous way. It made a gun into a a super gun, it turned metal into unbreakable metal and it certainly wouldn't turn something safe into something dangerous and urelated to the original object. And here most of the assumptions were that this setting will turn safe objects into monsters.

I personally, because of how tired I am on constant, would put a pillow into the intake booth, and run it under fine, or very fine. On fine I predict it would just be a much comfier pillow. On very fine, I hope it would gain the memetic effect of being able to pull someone towards said pillow to lay their head on it, whenever said person is tired.

Honestly, that last quote about us being "very fine" got me thinking about what the average SCP Explained viewer would become if put through on the very fine setting. Maybe we'd become reality shifters who create a universe just for the SCP Explained universe, VAs, and art. Or maybe we'd just be anomalous humans, since watching SCP Explained isn't necessarily a character trait (PS. Your team is awesome and deserves a nice day.)

What if you put an object in on "fine" and then take it out and put it back in on the same setting? Will it just keep improving slightly without anomalies or will the second go just be the equivalent of putting it in on "very fine" once?
