Bestselling Author Rachel Hollis Talk About Past Emotional Trauma

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, as the saying goes. Not in the case of your brain. A diamond-shaped pattern of overactivity in the brain’s emotional centers is actually a sign of trouble. On brain SPECT imaging scans, the diamond pattern is associated with emotional trauma that has pushed the brain into overdrive.

The diamond pattern is one of the findings noted on the brain scans of @MsRachelHollis entrepreneur and author of the bestselling Girl, Wash Your Face and Girl, Stop Apologizing. She recently sat down with Dr. Daniel Amen for an episode of the Scan My Brain video series to discuss her SPECT scan at Amen Clinics. When he asked Hollis about past emotional trauma, she revealed a horrific experience with her brother who had schizophrenia and depression.

“When I was 14, my brother committed suicide,” says Hollis, who found his lifeless body in their home. “I couldn’t understand what I was looking at. My brain could not process what I was looking at.”

From what I understand, the scans are not covered by insurance. How does the general population afford to get a scan to know where they are at with their trauma? Especially since so many of us have been compromised in life by that trauma. We need to make it available for all--ESPECIALLY the homeless and less-fortunate, because trauma is EXACTLY why they are where they are at.

I just had my scan done and I have very similar results as Rachel. This has been the single most life-changing thing I have ever done in my life. Ignore the comments calling it pseudoscience and really look at what Amen has been doing. Also, this is VERY personal, so hats off to any celebrity willing to see these results with the public. The entire process is over several weeks, the Amen staff is incredible and much more goes on beyond the scans. They really care for you with therapy, natural supplementation and emotional support. You can do financing too. For only $5k, it's a bargain for what you receive. Most procedures involving any other body part are in the tens of thousands!

Here we are a year later, and Rachel's ex-husband died of an overdose (alcohol, cocaine, and fentanyl). Despite previously saying on Oprah that she was an alcoholic, Rachel's social media includes frequent references to her drinking, especially vodka. So much for her investment in brain health.

Once your brain is more balanced, you don't particularly want alcohol because feeling great feels so great. Why would I 'dump' on that?

I’ve definitely needed to hear that, because of two major traumas when I was a kid. Walked in on my dad trying to commit suicide slitting his throat and wrist bleeding everywhere. And my brother at the age of 15 dying at home... then came the alcohol. So I’m pretty sure my brain is doing similar things to hers. I would love to try that saffron! And the eye movement! I’m so glad for videos like this.💃💃💯🙏

I wish there was a study that would show people's brain activity in process while someone is saying kind things, cruel things, jokes, etc and then do the same scanning but while an employer or family member coworker or someone else with a history with them says the same things

Shouldn’t he scan the brain first and make a diagnosis rather than get a patient history then look at the scan? If he already knows the traumatic history the scan is unnecessary. He should be able to look at the scan and tell her she has issues. It’s like watching a reading by a psychic. Hopefully no one will be persuaded to pay for this pseudoscience bc of RH.

She is awsome for doing this. Courage is such a atractive quality. Wish more people would do the same. Keep it up!

Is this her PR strategy to excuse her behavior?

So disappointing that Dr. Amen would give any air time to this fraud. I’m sure “trauma brain” will be her new justification for her plagiarism, hateful attitude, and whatever else is convenient.
