I find this whole thing very strange. We impose stringent regulation on antibiotic use on farmers yet as we've just heard from a doctor they use a carpet bomb approach to antibiotic treatment. Rarely do you ever know what caused your infection rather they just throw random antibiotics at whatever it is until they start working. And that's the reason antibiotics are so useful in the first place their mechanism to kill bacteria actually means you don't need to know the pathogen, you don't need to test, you don't treat specific ailments with specific antibiotics.
So don't complain to us farmers who use antibiotics sparingly in comparison to doctors and even then the same pathogens shouldn't really even make it to the food chain or contact humans if food it preserved and prepared properly.
It's the HSE and it's ilk that need to get their own house in order not us.
